March 9, 2016 – Three Chicago men have been charged in connection with a home invasion Monday night at an apartment on Lake Street after Oak Park Police responding to a 911 call arrived to find two of the suspects still in the building and the third nearby.

Charged were Marliss Pelmer, 21, of the 12000 block of S. Perry Ave., Justin Harris, 18, of the 11800 block of S. Yale Ave., and Devonte Gosha, 20, of the 12000 block of S. Yale Ave. Each was charged with six counts of home invasion, six counts of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated battery.

All three are being held in Cook County jail in lieu of $1 million bond each. The next court date is set for 9 a.m., March 11, in room 102 of the 4th District Municipal Court in Maywood.

The three suspects, reportedly wearing ski masks and armed with handguns, allegedly entered the apartment on the top floor of the building in the 800 block of Lake Street at about 9:40 p.m., announced a robbery and demanded money.

Three of six individuals inside the apartment when the robbery occurred told Police the suspects had struck them with a handgun. Two of the individuals were treated at the scene for lacerations and bruises to their heads.

An unspecified amount of cash and jewelry were reported taken from the apartment before Police arrived.

Residents of the apartment are believed to have been operating a make-shift recording studio that had not been licensed by the Village as required by local ordinance.

Police recovered two handguns at the scene, one with the help of the Forest Park Police canine unit.

The investigation is continuing.
