STAY CONNECTED

Many ways to stay connected

Dec. 27, 2013 - Social media and mobile web are bringing us closer to our family, friends and neighborhoods each day. The Village of Oak Park has a number of communications tools in place to help local residents seeking up-to-the-minute information on their community day or night. All of the services described below are free, but most require a subscription or an account for the particular service. Be sure to read the terms of service for each of these sites.

  • Facebook and Twitter -- These two social networks have proven very popular among digitally connected local residents. The Village posts updates, photos and other messages several times per day throughout the week, including occasional evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • eNews -- The Village's eNews service is a low-volume email list full of important announcements and upcoming events. Don't worry, we won't spam you with lots of unwanted email. You can sign up securely at this link.
  • VOP website -- Maybe you noticed the new format of the updated VOP website when it launched earlier this year. The top of the page is reserved for the latest news, and that's where you'll find information about weather events, street closures, public safety alerts and more. You can even bookmark the News category to go straight to the latest news.
  • Emergency alerts -- Also known as reverse 911, Oak Park's emergency notification system can deliver important public safety information directly to residents via telephone, email and SMS text message. Click here to sign up.

Doubtless there will be more to come, as we keep an eye on the latest digital communication tools. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you online!
