Body discovered in library bathroom identified

April 14, 2016 – The body of a man found Monday morning in a bathroom at the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake St., has been identified as that of Todd Leslie, 48. His last known address was the 7500 block of Brown Avenue in Forest Park.

Cause of death has not yet been determined, but foul play is not suspected. Leslie was not carrying any identification, so his identity was determined through fingerprints. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is awaiting results of toxicology tests to determine cause of death.

The body was discovered at about 10:30 a.m. in a single-use bathroom on the third floor of the library. Library officials told police a patron had complained that the bathroom door had been locked for some time. A security officer opened the door and discovered the body.

Leslie was pronounced dead on the scene a short time later via telemetry transmitted by the Oak Park Fire Department to an attending physician. His body was transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and to determine the cause of death.

The third floor of the library was closed down for about two hours as Oak Park Police responding to the 911 call conducted an investigation. Officers determined there were no signs of violence or foul play.
