Parks & Recreation - Comprehensive Master Plan With the goal of a system-wide renewal of the community 's recreational resources, the Village and Park District have joined forces with citizens to draft a comprehensive master plan to set priorities and determine future program and capital needs. The Kansas City-based professional market research, survey and economics consulting firm of Leisure Vision was selected through competitive bid to work with local partners Gilmore Franzen Architects,Inc.and CYLA Design Associates, Inc., to prepare the plan, which is expected to take a year to complete. A multi-phased process, the first phase began with the formation of a new citizen 's advisory committee whose members are helping shape a public input process. The second phase focused on inventorying community resources, both physical and financial, and comparing them to similar communities. A statistically valid community needs assessment survey was conducted. During the final phases, findings are being analyzed,a draft report compiled and community comments sought on the draft before a final report is produced. Thecitizens committee is providing ongoing community input to both the Park and Village boards, as well as offering feedback to the consultants throughout the master plan development process, including ideas for improving recreation programs. Regular updates on the progress of the master plan are posted here - just check the links along the right side of this page. Information also is available on the official Park District of Oak Park website. For more information on the plan call the Park District at 725.2022 or the Village at 358.5400.
