Oak Park, Illinois Village Departments

GENERAL INFORMATION: All vehicles owned by Oak Park residents must display a current vehicle sticker. Vehicle stickers must be renewed annually. Renewal applications are mailed in mid-May to residents who previously registered vehicles in Oak Park. Residents who receive a renewal application may renew online, by mail or in person at Village Hall through 5 p.m., June 30. Fees double after the deadline.

FEES: The vehicle sticker fee is $45 for passenger cars - $35 for cars owned by persons 65 years old and older. Persons with disability license plates also pay $35 for passenger vehicles. Trucks, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds and buses also must be licensed, the fee varying by type of vehicle.

DEADLINES: Vehicle stickers must be displayed by midnight on June 30. Fees double on July 1. Vehicles that fail to display a valid sticker may be ticketed at $21 per violation. Stickers can be renewed online from early May until 5 p.m., June 30.

NEW RESIDENTS: A new resident must present a copy of the vehicle registration and proof of residency that shows the date of residency, such as a lease, closing documents or Post Office mail forwarding receipt. New residents need to bring these items to the Office of the Village Clerk in Village Hall, 123 Madison St.

NEW VEHICLES: Newly purchased vehicles must be registered with the Village of Oak Park. Residents should come to Village Hall with the vehicle sales receipt showing the date of purchase.
