2012 Election News

Voter registration
Oak Parkers planning to vote in the March 20 federal and state primary elections can register through Tues., Feb. 21. Registration is offered from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Mon. - Fri. at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. Voter registration also is offered from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday at Oak Park Township, 105 S. Oak Park Ave. The Township office will remain open until 8 p.m., Feb. 15, 16 and 21, as well as from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Sat., Feb. 18. Voter registration requires two types of identification, at least one with the current address. A driver’s license or picture ID is preferred, along with an additional item such as a lease or utility bill. For more information, call 708.358.5670 or e-mail clerk@oak-park.us.

Early voting offered
Early voting for the March 20 primary election will be available from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Mon., Feb. 27 – Thurs., March 15, including Saturdays, at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. Voters do not need to cite a reason to vote early.

Precinct changes
Voting districts were redrawn following the 2010 Census and the number of Oak Park precincts reduced, which may affect individual polling places and candidate choices. Visit www.voterinfonet.com to verify voter registration, identify polling places and review candidates on your ballot. The web site is managed by the Cook County Clerk.

Election Information

The Village Clerk is a registrar for voters and the local election authority. Questions about elections, voter registration, voting, filing for candidacy for local office and the electoral process are available on the Cook County Clerk web site, www.cookcountyclerk.com.

In-person absentee voting is conducted by the Cook County Clerk's office at Village Hall before all elections affecting the Village. Absentee voting is conducted during the special hours set by the County Clerk of 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. - noon Saturdays until five days before the election.

To cast an absentee ballot by mail prior to an election, or to file a notarized declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate, contact the Cook County Clerk's office, 118 N. Clark in Chicago, 312.603.0906 or www.cookcountyclerk.com.

Voters with a physical disability may request election-day assistance up until the day before an election by contacting the Cook County Clerk's office at 312.603.0906.
