Parking Services Division Meter Keys offer convenient alternative to coins The Village of Oak Park parking meter system accepts the cash key as a convenient alternative to coins. A key can be purchased at the Parking Permit office at Village Hall and pre-programmed to any desired amount. A $15 deposit is required. When inserted into an electronic meter, the first minimum increment is electronically deducted as payment for time on the meter. The key then can be turned up to the maximum amount allowed on the meter. Parkers are reminded that meter feeding – paying to park at a meter for longer than the maximum period of time permitted by the meter timer – is illegal in Oak Park.
