Forestry Division
Maintaining the urban forest The Forestry Division of Public Works is responsible for the Village's urban forest of some 20,000 trees as well as more than 100 various landscaped areas. Division personnel also provide tree removal and replacement of aged and diseased trees, maintain a comprehensive inventory of all public trees and manage tree trimming and stump removal services. Efforts of the Forestry Division have earned the Village a Tree City U.S.A. designation for 25 consecutive years and Growth Awards for 10 years from the National Arbor Day Foundation in recognition of the community's on-going dedication to preserving its urban forest. The Village also has been recognized for the Forestry Division's planning and management tools developed for the proper maintenance and care of the community's thousands of parkway trees, and for increased community awareness through aggressive public education efforts. |
