Police Reports - Record Division

The Records Services Division of the Oak Park Police Department is responsible for maintaining up-to-date information relating to Police Records and reports, and for providing all information required by the Freedom of Information Act.

Citizens may obtain copies of police reports in which they are involved, or other reports available through the Freedom of Information Act, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The fee is $5 for accident reports and 10 cents per page for all other reports. The fee may be paid by cash, check, money order or credit card.

Police Records functions include:

  • Receiving police reports and computerizing this information for easy access
  • Providing annual crime reports to the Illinois State Police and the FBI
  • Providing Letters of Good Conduct
  • Fingerprinting job applicants and, with proper authorization, providing information for background checks
  • Maintaining records of bicycle licenses
  • Maintaining supplies of office materials and forms.
