Monday, March 18, 2019  ::   A two-car crash on March 10 at Ridgeland Avenue and South Boulevard has claimed a second life. Pierre L. Shelton, 30, of the 100 block of North Central Avenue in Chicago died yesterday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood from injuries sustained in the two-vehicle incident.
Thursday, March 14, 2019  ::   The Oak Park Police Department is conducting special patrols over St. Patrick's Day weekend in an effort to arrest impaired drivers and encourage the use of seat belts.
Monday, March 4, 2019  ::   Artists are being sought to create murals that will continue the transformation of the railroad retaining walls along the Green Line corridor from dull, blank concrete into canvases as part of the Oak Park Area Arts Council's Mini-Mural program.
Wednesday, February 27, 2019  ::   A major construction project that will convert Madison Street into three lanes from Harlem Avenue to Austin Boulevard and incorporate a range of pedestrian-friendly features began in April and is slated to wrap up in November.
Wednesday, February 20, 2019  ::   The overall crime rate in Oak Park was essentially unchanged in 2018 as compared to the prior year, according to data compiled by the Police Department. The two largest categories of crimes against individuals – robbery, which includes vehicle hijackings and assault/battery – declined.
Friday, February 15, 2019  ::   The Oak Park Fire Department reported an overall increase in total calls for service in 2018 as compared to the prior year. Rescue and emergency medical services continued to be the majority of aid provided in 2018.
Tuesday, February 12, 2019  ::   Residents and business operators interested in learning more about major improvements planned this year for Madison Street are invited to an open house scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21 at Percy Julian Middle School.
Tuesday, February 5, 2019  ::   Three juveniles from Chicago have been charged in connection with a vehicle hijacking that occurred at about 6 p.m., Mon. in the 800 block of North Boulevard in Oak Park. The suspects crashed the stolen vehicle and fled on foot, but were quickly apprehended. No injuries were reported.
