Wednesday, May 1, 2019  ::   Oak Parkers are about to be challenged to step up their recycling game as new, stricter cart contamination rules go into effect on May 6. After a warning, carts will not be emptied until the contaminants are removed by the resident – ideally by the next weekly collection cycle.
Friday, April 19, 2019  ::   The Village of Oak Park is recognizing the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program during National Community Development week from April 22-26. In the most recently completed program year, Oak Park CDBG funds assisted more than 32,000 people.
Thursday, April 18, 2019  ::   Fun for the whole family awaits at the Village’s 10th annual Earth Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sat., April 27 at the Public Works Center. Live entertainment, a wide range of activities for kids and dozens of local businesses and organizations highlight the annual celebration of green living.
Thursday, April 11, 2019  ::   Reconstruction of the parking lot at Village Hall is underway and slated to continue into early June. No parking will be available in the lot beginning in early May, which means all Village employees and visitors will be required to park on nearby streets.

Monday, March 18, 2019  ::   A two-car crash on March 10 at Ridgeland Avenue and South Boulevard has claimed a second life. Pierre L. Shelton, 30, of the 100 block of North Central Avenue in Chicago died yesterday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood from injuries sustained in the two-vehicle incident.
Thursday, March 14, 2019  ::   The Oak Park Police Department is conducting special patrols over St. Patrick's Day weekend in an effort to arrest impaired drivers and encourage the use of seat belts.
Monday, March 4, 2019  ::   Artists are being sought to create murals that will continue the transformation of the railroad retaining walls along the Green Line corridor from dull, blank concrete into canvases as part of the Oak Park Area Arts Council's Mini-Mural program.
Wednesday, February 27, 2019  ::   A major construction project that will convert Madison Street into three lanes from Harlem Avenue to Austin Boulevard and incorporate a range of pedestrian-friendly features began in April and is slated to wrap up in November.
