Massing studies completed for Oak Park Avenue corner

June 6, 2008 – Several conceptual urban design development scenarios have been created for the four corners at the intersection of Oak Park Avenue and Madison Street. The scenarios, which are basic massing studies, are intended to help better understand the potential opportunities for development at this high-traffic intersection. The project, which took three months to complete, includes an assessment of the corner properties and adjacent land uses, as well as the applicable village codes. The development scenarios identify potential land use opportunities, parking, green space and other zoning regulations within the recommendations of the Madison Street Corridor Plan. Madison Street planning project adopted

June 6, 2006 – The public process to create a community driven plan for the future redevelopment of the Madison Street Corridor from Austin Boulevard to Harlem Avenue has now been completed and adopted by the Village Board. The plan grew from extensive public involvement. A citizen steering committee worked closely with Wisconsin-based Vandewalle & Associates, a planning consultant selected through a competitive bid to guide the process. Committee members included citizen representatives from several Village commissions, including the Historic Preservation Commission, Plan Commission, Community Design Commission, Environmental & Energy Advisory commission, Universal Access Commission and Transportation Commission, as well as Madison Street businesses and property owners and neighborhood residents. A series of public meetings were held, and the community kept up to date through a special project website. The plan is now available for public review. For more information call 358.5452 or email the Planning and Community Development Division email the Planning and Community Development Department.
