Vaccine form to gather contact info
Friday, January 29, 2021  ::   Oak Park has launched an online vaccine pre-registration form for those who live or work here and are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Filling out the form does not schedule a vaccination, but will help collect contact information as vaccination opportunities arise.
Phase 1b vaccinations to begin
Friday, January 22, 2021  ::   Oak Park is set to move into Phase 1b of the state’s plan for COVID-19 vaccinations next week. Some 12,000 residents and essential workers who live or work here are eligible, including those 65 years old and older. Vaccine supplies will determine the timeline.
Healthcare workers getting first vaccine
Thursday, January 14, 2021  ::   Planning is underway to expand the pool of Oak Park residents to be vaccinated against COVID-19. But limited vaccine supplies complicate the timeline for broadening reach beyond healthcare workers. A waiting list is not available.
Man charged after allegedly punching Oak Park Police officer
Monday, January 11, 2021  ::   A 36-year-old Oak Park man was arrested after allegedly punching an Oak Park Police officer in the face at about 10:30 a.m. near North Avenue and Hayes Avenue. Ramus L. Steward, who lives in the 1200 block of N. Hayes, was charged with aggravated battery and resisting/obstructing a police officer.
Oak Park Police investigating possible hate crime
Wednesday, January 6, 2021  ::   Oak Park Police are investing an incident of attempted vandalism to a local business that may be considered a hate crime. Shortly before 8 a.m. today a passerby reported damage to the window of the Live Café, 163 S. Oak Park Ave. A brick was discovered nearby, wrapped in what appeared to be notebook paper with a racial slur scrawled on it.
Man charged with felony hit and run
Friday, December 18, 2020  ::   An 81-year-old Oak Park man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run incident earlier this month on Lake Street that left a pedestrian hospitalized with serious injuries.
Local distribution of vaccine begins
Thursday, December 17, 2020  ::   The Oak Park Department of Public Health has received its first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The initial allotment of 600-plus doses was distributed to Rush Oak Park Hospital and West Suburban Medical Center, per state and federal recommendations.
Vaccine preparations now underway
Monday, December 14, 2020  ::   Village officials putting months of preparation into action now that a COVID-19 vaccine has been approved. As a designated vaccine provider, the Oak Park Health Department is receiving doses directly from the state will allocate them locally under state and federal guidelines.
Residents urged to stay home if possible
Wednesday, November 18, 2020  ::   With the number of new COVID-19 cases rising rapidly, residents are urged to follow the state’s latest recommendations to only leave one’s home when necessary, not to attend gatherings that mix households and not to travel destinations where rates are high.
