First Time Homebuyer's
Seminar...A free seminar for
first-time homebuyers will be held from 7 - 8:30 p.m.,
Tues., Nov. 18, Room 101 at Village Hall. Pre-registration is
required. Call 358.5408 or email comsvcs@oak-park.us.
Hours extended...The Office of the Village Clerk is open from 8:30 a.m.
to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays. Services available during late hours
include vehicle sticker purchases, voter registration and
information on other Village services. Regular hours are 8:30
a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 358.5670 or email clerk@oak-park.us.
Cable subscriber rights...For 30 days after a change in channel lineups or
packages, federal law requires cable companies to allow
subscribers to switch to an alternative level of service
without the typical charge. This gives you the ability to
explore options for other service levels that may better
suit your video programming needs and budget without penalty.
If you are unable to resolve any issue with the cable company,
contact the Village Manager's Office at 358.5778 for
assistance or to file a complaint. All complaints are tracked
and reviewed by the Oak Park Telecommunications Commission,
whose citizen members advise the Village Board regarding cable
television matters.
Parking office extends hours...The Parking Office will be open from 8:30 a.m.
to 7:30 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 24 for permit renewals. For more
information call 358.5700 or email publicworks@oak-park.us.
Off-leash
program extended...The Park District of Oak Park has extended a temporary
relaxation of its leash requirements in two Village Parks until at least
March 18, when a review is scheduled. Owners are allowed to unleash
their dogs from 6:30 - 8:30 a.m., on Saturdays and Sundays in Lindberg
Park (Greenfield Avenue between Marion Street and Woodbine Avenue) and
in Ridgeland Common Park (Lake Street between Ridgeland and Scoville
avenues). Beginning Nov. 15, hours will be changed to 7 - 9 a.m., and
will include legal holidays at Ridgeland Common. Except for these specific
times and places, the leash law will be strictly enforced. Dogs must
be properly licensed and supervised by their owners. For more information,
call 725.2020 or e-mail GaryB@oakparkparks.com.
