Sirens are activated when tornadoes or
heavy wind and rainstorms threaten the Village. When the sirens
sound, either a tornado has been sighted or indicated by radar,
or dangerous thunderstorms are occurring in the area. When you
hear the siren, go to a safe place in the house, usually the
basement, and stay away from windows. Turn on a battery-powered
radio or television and wait for the "all clear"
announcement. Oak Park has three sirens. The sirens are tested
at 10:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month. For more
information, call 445.3300 or email fire@oak-park.us.
