Cap the Ike community workshop set
A public meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., April 28 in Village Hall, 123 Madison St., to gather community input into the Cap the Ike Feasibility Study. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to provide input and response to the summary of information gathering efforts that will be presented, including the results of the recent community survey. Since the study's initial public kickoff meeting, a team of professional contractors with the assistance and guidance of a stakeholder's citizen committee and institutional representatives, has been compiling and analyzing a wide range of information that will provide the foundation for understanding the factors that may influence the potential capping of the Eisenhower Expressway through the Village. In addition to the initial public workship, the study team has been reviewing community opinion and concerns through interviews, surveys and web page feedback. Past plans, studies and reports affecting the study area also have been examined, along with existing land-use, zoning, transportation conditions and engineering concerns and issues. In addition, the study team is examining the market and various development potentials that may be related to a proposed cap. The workshop will bring together all of the information in an interim report and present a synthesis of the issues to further community understanding and promote discussion as the study progresses. For more information call 358.5778 or email CapTheIKE@oak-park.us. Residents also can track the study on the project web site at www.captheikestudy.com.
