George Bruce – A Sense of Place

Paint what you love is the statement that guides George Bruce who paints landscapes, trees and rural scenes of mostly the Midwest. Born and raised on a farm in central Illinois, he always loved nature and the countryside, and enjoys creating paintings that reflect the essence of nature, giving each painting an expression of mood and color that interprets his artistic feelings. He paints in watercolor and oil pastels. His work is shown in coffee houses, galleries, shops and art leagues in Illinois and Wisconsin. George recently retired from a design and marketing firm in Chicago to pursue his love of painting. He is married to an artist he met in college, and they have three grown children and seven grandchildren. He is a member of the Naperville Art League, DuPage Art League, the Yellow House Artists and the Oil Pastel Society. His gallery representation is at the Bohlin Gallery, Mineral Point, Wisconsin; Center for Visual Arts, Wausau, Wisconsin; and Abby Brown in Chicago.
