Real Estate Development Development Services staff strive to keep Oak Park a wonderful place to live, work and conduct business. Through efforts such as short-term and long-range economic development planning, and outreach efforts to retail and other businesses, Development Services works to expand and retain the viability of Oak Park's twelve commercial districts, focusing on the TIF areas. The Village has three TIF districts: 1) the Greater Downtown Oak Park TIF (created in 1983); 2) Harlem/Garfield TIF (1993); and, 3) Madison Street TIF (1995). Development Services also leads the Village's efforts to be involved with representatives in each of the local business districts and the Chamber of Commerce to foster economic development in the community. Development Services identifies opportunities and resources for business
and real estate growth. Oak Park has been fully developed since the 1930's
and most major economic development project require adaptive reuse and
redevelopment of existing properties and buildings. Development Services
is involved in appraisals, environmental assessments, surveys and other
due diligence efforts, as well as parking development and negotiation
of redevelopment agreements with developers for specific properties targeted
for proactive governmental efforts by the Village Board. |
