Property Standards Division
Debris/Litter The Building and Property Standards Department is the primary department that handles problems with litter, debris, garbage, and weeds. If there is a complaint regarding the storage and collection of garbage and refuse at residential and commercial buildings, littering on public and private property, overgrowth of grass and weeds, storage and collection of yardwaste, this department will investigate the situation, determine if any code violations exist, and work to resolve the problem. If the garbage and refuse disposal problems lead to rat infestations, the Public Health department is called in to address this problem. If the investigation shows that the debris relates to the recyclable materials and waste contractors, the Public Works Department is called in to assist. One call to Property Standards will trigger this interdepartmental approach if necessary, depending on the conditions at the site.
