The many dimensions of diversity in Oak Park will be on display when the annual July 4th parade steps off at 1 p.m., Sun., July 4 from Longfellow Park at Ridgeland Avenue and Adams Street. Since July 4th will be on Sunday this year, the parade will begin at 1 p.m., rather than 10 a.m. as in the past. The parade will march north on Ridgeland Avenue to Augusta Street, turning east to disperse near Whittier Elementary School at Harvey Avenue.
Among the entries scheduled to march are social and special interest groups, community groups, athletic teams, politicians, businesses and service organizations, children’s groups, animal lovers with their pets and musical groups. No activities are planned to follow the parade this year. However, the annual fireworks display is scheduled to begin at dusk in the football stadium of Oak Park and River Forest High School, near East Avenue and Lake Street.
For more information on the parade call 708.358.5407 or e-mail community@oak-park.us.
