Youth Services The Youth Services Division of the Oak Park Police Department is responsible for preventing juvenile delinquency and providing appropriate referrals to services for delinquent youth. Youth Services personnel have primary responsibility for investigating crimes that are likely to have been committed by offenders who are under the age of 17. Youth Services also investigates crimes where the age of the victim requires special consideration. Youth Services, in cooperation with the Community Policing Unit, presents I-SEARCH, a safety education program. In I-SEARCH, a team consisting of a police officer and an educator or social worker, presents age-appropriate safety information to children in kindergarten, second, fourth, and seventh grades. I-SEARCH is offered to all public and private school students in Oak Park. Working closely with Oak Park Township Youth Services, Family Service and Mental Health Center of Oak Park and River Forest, and with many other community organizations and agencies, Youth Services strives to promote healthy choices and deter young people from committing delinquent acts. |
